NEW THIS YEAR, the Walk for INDEPENDENCE will launch a 5K running option as well as our first ever Blindfold Challenge! With a virtual walk or run, you can pick your own route, who you participate with, and what time you start, all while fundraising to support The Carroll Center. The whole month of April, we encourage you to participate virtually and send us a photo of you supporting the walk. Then, on Sunday, April 25, 2021, all participants will come together to virtually celebrate the effort made to support our mission. Sponsor the event today, create a team, and help spread the word. You pick the pace, choose your race, and participate from your favorite place. Join us to make a difference, one step at a time!

Introducing The Carroll Center for the Blind’s First Annual Blindfold Challenge - Change the way you see things!

The Carroll Center for the Blind is thrilled to introduce our all-new Blindfold Challenge as part of this year's 5K & Walk for INDEPENDENCE. The Blindfold Challenge aims to bring awareness about the impact vision loss can have on an individual as well as insight as to how crucial the services offered by The Carroll Center for the Blind are to those in need. By joining this challenge, you will test your skills, open your mind, and sharpen your senses while experiencing running in an unique way--without relying on your eye sight. Blindfold Challenge participants will run in teams of two: one member will wear a blindfold and the other will guide. To participate in something unique that takes you out of your comfort zone and helps you understand why losing vision should not limit anyone’s world.

The Carroll Center for the Blind empowers those who are blind and visually impaired to achieves independence and to lead a fulfilling life.
