Welcome to My Personal Page
Hello Friends, Family and Supporters:
It is that time of year again! It is time to support the Carroll Center for the Blind, CCB, which is very near and dear to my heart as it has directly impacted me in terms of my independence, employment and social activity. It does the same for many others in the blind and low vision community.
A number of years ago, when I lost my job with a local TV station, I was struggling with my physical, digital and job-related mobility. I needed to learn how to get around more easily; I needed to learn to use technology to improve my job skills; and I even needed to learn how to more easily enjoy casual activities such as canoeing or biking. Through Carroll Center for the Blind’s Independent Daily Living and Technology Training Program, I learned how to be much more independent and to feel whole again. I even learned how to cook and clean, though to this day I still do not do much of that (nothing to do with blindness). CCB’s technology program allowed me to fall in love with technology again, and now like everyone else I can waste my time surfing the net and scrolling through Facebook. CCB’s recreation program taught me how to ski downhill and cross country. As a result I traveled to Alaska and completed 50 kilometers of skiing in that beautiful state, something I would not have had the courage to do beforehand. In part because of the skills I learned at CCB I also have an amazing job as the ADA Coordinator for the State of Massachusetts, and I can now pay it forward and help give people a voice to determine what kind of lives they want for themselves. I am so blessed!
The Carroll Center offers programs for all age ranges of individuals who are experiencing vision loss; they offer services to anyone from young people who are transitioning to college to senior citizens who are suffering through vision loss and want access to information. And they do this regardless of an individual’s ability to pay.
So please support my wife Megan, Merrick my guide dog, and my retired guide dog Kinley in this important fundraiser to help support the Carroll Center for the Blind! Help me achieve my personal goal of raising $1000 to give back to all that I have been given.
Thank you in advance for your support!
All my best,
