Walking to Transform Lives
My mother started losing her vision when she was 30... and now is completely blind. Watching her go through her journey gave me an awareness of both the mental and physical challenges people deal with when losing their sight. Though I will not be able to completely understand, and walk in their shoes, I am in a position to use my skills and passion to help.
The Carroll Center for the Blind helps people of ALL ages and at ALL stages of vision loss. My colleagues work directly with over 5,000 people of varying stages of vision loss, first helping them adapt to the mental and physical challenges, and then empowering them to live their lives fully and independently.
Since I have worked here, I am inspired daily by both my colleagues passion, and the clients who work so incredibly hard to achieve their dreams. During one client's recent graduation, he mentioned words that truly stuck with me....
"When I lost my vision I found myself. You’d think when you can’t see finding things would be tough but for me.. I found my passion."
When you support The Carroll Center for the Blind, you are helping people adapt and gain critical life skills needed to keep their independence, and live the lives they are meant to live. Please support us in our efforts to transform lives.
